Comment of the Day

I forgot to mention one thing about golf this weekend. On sunday I wore these new shorts I got, a red plaid, Cal may of noticed them. Anyways, I'm walking in to get my clubs at 7 in the morning and Mr. Bosela is sitting on the patio. I walk by and he speaks his first words to me since playing golf one time last year. "Hey Harris, your shorts look like the Polish flag." He than lets out a good laugh for his one liner and I continue on my way, shamed by the father of the worlds best golfer.

79, 80, 76

I'm offically back. I finally played well this weekend. I played like I'm as good as Matt, well almost, I'm not that good. But regardless, what a great feeling to finally play well. My swing felt amazing all three rounds. I was putting like a mad man. I 2 putted almost every green I hit in regulation, and made an enourmous amount of up and downs. Good thing I was practicing my chipping so much before I hurt my back. I could still improve greatly in the chipping game so I will start to work more on that this week. I'm just so motivated now that I finally have a good swing and I scored well 3 times in a row. Next goal, to actually post a good score in the next Mens tour event. If I don't, it's going to be extremely difficult to get back on the tour next year. The only thing that was hard to take this weekend was playing Ryan (my swing doctor) in a match. It started off him 1 up, and ended 6 & 5 after I dominated him hole after hole. I did grind him hard about trusting a guy with my swing who was so bad. Can i take lessons from a guy I defeated so easily? I guess I'm just that good now, but still not good enough, must be more like Matt.

Aside from golf, I did nothing else this weekend, just played golf and killed 3 more days before NFL starts.

The worst time of the year

The time has finally come. There is no more sports on, and NFL is still 2 months away. I know, baseball is on, but who really watches baseball? And yes, there is still a few more good golf tournaments to watch, but there not as good as the masters and U.S. Open. So now, it's time to play the waiting game. Football will be back soon.

This does give me the oppurtunity to start focusing on the club championships. I need as much practice as I can get, cause right now my game is shit. I need to be more like Matt. If only my game was as good as his. I have been cleared by Dr Gary to finally start playing again tomorrow. Back to my favourite group of Matt, Cal, and Gary, and I will play again sunday with the normal sunday bunch. I'm sure I will be extremely rusty this week, but atleast I can start practicing again on monday. I know one thing, I need to get much better with my mid irons (5 - 7) , and my driver. If I'm hitting my driver the way I should be, I can have one of those irons in my hand on almost every hole. They have been shacky so far this year, but with my improved short game, the more acurate I get with thoe clubs the better my scoring will get. I know I'm almost back to where I want to be, but this back shit has definitly set me back a bit.

Pretty funny story. I play on a slow pitch team with my buddies, now in our 3rd season. I have been awful at that this year to. Not a very good summer for me sports wise. But last night with a cripling back injury I had my best offensive night. I was up 5 times and got on base 4 times with one strike out, with out taking a single swing all night. I just stood there in the batters box and let the cards fall. I haven't got on base that many times all season, so maybe things are picking up.

Update on the horrible golf coming after the weekend. Plus make sure to check out Matts blog On The tee, for an indepth review of his new favourite movie, The Lakehouse.

The No Girls Allowed Club

So I spent the weekend resting my back and it feels great today. So I go to see the doc one more time today, and I'm playing golf tonight or tomorrow. But yesterday was was the best day ever anyways so I didn't mind one bit not playing golf.

Started off with my first visit to the Mozie on Inn. What a great freakin breakfast. I had this huge omellet loaded with bacon, ham, and cheese, it was great. Than i got home and proceeded to sit infront of the t.v. for the next 9 hours watching nothing but sports. Starting with the end of the brazil vs australia world cup game. Mixing in some of the early U.S. Open coverage. After taking down the second of many joints I tuned into the France vs. Korea game which turned into a crzy finish with the Koreans scoring in the 80th minute to tie the game. the Koreans were going nuts in the stands, what a great sight to see. The World cupis amazing. Than I finished up the day with 4 straight hours of U.S. Open Golf. It was some of the craziest golf I have ever seen. First of all, +5 winning a tournament is just ridiculous. Usually I look at the pro courses and think I could score moderatly will on the feature course, but ths one, winged foot, no freaking way. I would be lucky to break 120 on this course. I can't believe the rough, the greens, the fairways are so small, what a nightmare this course would have been. But Hefty tanking it on the 18th hole was just terrible. I was really rooting for him, just because I love to see greatness in sports. Everyone hates cheering for Tiger or Phil. But I love it. How can you not want to see the best in any sport dominate, and do things that no one has ever done before. watching Phil going for the mickelslam or half way to the grand slam is an amazing thing. I wish he just hit that god damn 4 wood instead of his slicing driver. Regardless of this horrible finishing hole, it was still a succesful day of sports, boss, and relaxation, and most importantly my back finally feels almost totally better. Back to working on my shitty game.

Thumbs?

My buddies started calling me thumbs. I'm not sure exactly why. I am assuming it has something to do with my really bad golf game or....actually I just figured it out as I was typing. Very funny guys, very funny.

So sweater man had something to say about my fantasy team. I do have 2 of my 4 leagues web pages for you to look at and you can see my team and stats and that. Noskillz was refering to my Ancaster team that happens to have mike Mcmahon on it. First of all, I joined this league 2 years ago and picked up the team from one of my friends that had traded every thing he had to get Chad Johnson. So the first year I was working with nothing. I was able to turn the team around and win what we call the Ass Bowl, which is a playoff for the bottom teams to determine who gets the first pick the following year. This was my goal all year for I realized I couldn't win the pool, but I could build around CJ. So i ended up wining this pick. Than in the offseason I traded more picks for this coming year so that I could get Donovan McNabb, Added to my CJ, clinton portis (got during the 2004 season via trade) Chris Chambers, and Lavernous Coles. Everything was going smoothy untill McNabb got injured at which point I picked up Mcmahon, and did another deal for Jake PLummer. This resulted in me Winning the overall campionship in only my second year. First time i won a pool after playing for 5 years. Now the team that shows is before dropping everyone but 4 guys as keepers. This post is to justify why Mike is on my team, of course he will be dropped. But I will be in rough shape again this year, once again shooting for that first pick. I don't have a draft pick this year untill the end of the 4th round, that will be the 55th player off the board. And since we keep 4 guys, I'm actually looking at the 112 best guy in the league, so not much to get there. My keepers aren't very good either this year. I have Portis, Santana Moss, Kellen Winslow, and either charles rogers or Jake PLummer. So I really onlyhave 2 keepers and I'm keeping fliers which is a big no no in fantasy world. So right now I am doing research based on a dynasty perspective. Basically looking for guys that will shine after this season. The Tom Cruise league is also a keeper league so have yet to drop all the guys that I won't keep, but right now it will be Stephen Jackson and either Larry Fitz, Cedric Benson, or Deshoun Foster, I'm leaning toward Fitz right now untill more unfolds in the mini camps later in July. There will plenty on my FF world as the summer progresses and we get into the best time of the year September to January.

One thing that I would like to add to my posts is "What's playing on my IPOD". Basically I will give you what I think is the best out right now. For this week I was going to pick James Blunt, but realized this is only for my Girlfriend and Sweatervest wearing old men, so instead I am going with a recent live concert I downloaded. It is of course Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals from a concert in 1996 in Boulder Colorado at the Fox Theatre. During this time frame there was only the core 4 guys in the group (they have since added a keyboardist and a second guitar player) and this is the best sounding concert I have ever heard. Ben is jamming and singing the way he used to when it was really raw and the rest of the band is just on fire. A totally different sound than what they are putting out now. This will make for another topic one day that I was already planning on doing. If your interested in getting this concert, just visit Dimeadozen and search Ben Harper, or I would do a B&P for someone who is looking to hear this. Check out Ben's homepage under the live music forum to learn about B&P.

That's it for now, I'm off to play golf, swear and throw clubs, and if all goes right, hopefully find something to yell at my playing partners about.

Popping my Cherry

So the time has finally arrived. The sports, entertainment, and smack talking blog has officially opened for viewing. This is an exciting time for me since I have been saving up lots of crap to talk about and anxious to have a place to display my shit talking about all my friends and maybe some enemies to.

What to expect from this page?

Here you will find the story of a great golf game going to shit and hopefully the improvement of it over the course of the summer. I will share some of my vast knowledge on fantasy football (the info that helped me to win my first league last year), but not to much for I am in a league with Noskillz, so I can't reveal everything. Aswell as some minor aspects about my life and various other dribble I can think of. And of course all of this will be tied into talking shit about my sweatervest wearing friend, and anyone else I feel like talking about.

So here goes my first official post about me.

I live in St. Catharines, Ontario and I am 24 years old. I enjoy playing golf as much as possible, watching, reading about, and playing football. I like talking about good food and great wine. And one of my favourite past times is watching every movie and as much garbage on T.V. as possible (mostly reality unless Lost, 24, or The Sopranos is on). I have recently bought a house at the beginning of the summer and it has kept me extremely busy, however it is a real joy to finally own my own place. I help run the family business. We clean gloves for the automotive and manufactoring plants all throughout Ontario. It's not an exciting business by any means, but it sure does pay the bills.

So to start my golf game is in shambles. I finished last year at a 4 handicapp with a strong finish to the year finishing in the top 10 at my club championships. None of this has transfered over to this year as my handicapp is now up to a 6 and rising quickly as I knock all my good scores off from last year with terrible ones this year. I just can't seem to put a good round together no matter what I do. However, I am very determined to return to my old form and improve upon it. I've now had 2 lessons with Ryan the AP at my club, and I am scheaduled for 4 more. He changed my swing drastically last week, but after a few days of practice it actually feels really good. I am hitting the ball much better than i was a few weeks ago, but I still have a lot of work to do. I have been working very hard mostly on my short game. Watching my lucky ass rule twisting, sweatervest wearing grinder friend play has convinced me that I must have a better short game if I am to improve. Even thought I call him lucky, just so you know, Noskillz is the best golfer ever, Cal and I tell him all the time. I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be like Matt, like Matt, if I could be like Matt. So for now I just hurt my leg yesterday practicing so I will be out for a a day or two, but after that it's back to the range.

Not much going on in the fantasy football (FF) world right now. Just keeping up with the mini camps and offseason talk going on. I hope to figure out a way to link some of the pages I visit, which I have determined to be the best for info. Untill the season starts i won't have much to talk about on this front, but I will still give some updates here and there about players, and try to make some predictions for you to help in your own leagues. One thing I am willing to share now is, don't sleep on Kellen Winslow Jr, the man is going to be healthy this year, and he will turn it on, I guarantee it.

So not much else for today, thanks for reading the first post, much more to come.
