Pretty good weekend

I had a pretty solid weekend. Friday night was Rosh Hashananh (sp?) which is the jewish new year. Our whole family goes to my moms house for quite possibly the best dinner of the year. My mom is the fucking Emeril of jewish food. Her brisket is the best. It can barely stays together its so tendure and soft. The turkey is amazing, and she added in a leg of lamb this year that was the best I ever had. Mixed in with some solid Hollah and stuffing, gravy, potatoes, oh man it was good.
Saturday, I wasted away a great day for golf. All in all, still a great day. Watched a few more episodes of Lost season 2, and get a great night sleep.
Sunday of course was spent watching football, and Ryder cup all morning. I could believe how good the golf was on sunday morning. Even though it mostly came from the Europeans, it was phenominal. I've never seen so many 30 to 40 footers made for birdies and eagles in one round. The Euro's were definitly the better squad and deserved to kick the americans ass, again for the 3rd year in a row.
Football was great. Lots of really good games. Bengals vs Steelers was great, Brown vs Ravens, St; Louis pulled one out of there ass when Warner fumbled with 1 minute left for his 8th time this season (put in Leinart?) when the cards were on the 20 yard line with the best kicker in league down 2. Unbelievable. I got smoked again in my Tom Cruise fans league, i'm now all alone in last place at 0-3. I finally got a win my pool with Matt, Tras Talking is a must. It was a great outing for the Glove Cleaners. 125 points, with one guy going for 0 points, and LT on the bench. So maybe things will pick up in that league. Aswell I finally beat matt in fantasy, even though it was in a pool that doesn't matter, a win is a win. I guess matt wasn't really focused since he spent his weekend listning to 45 year olds talk about they're marriage. Matt, you must really be desperate for marriage. I guess thats what you have to do when you get as old as Matt. Spend your weeked with other 43 year olds to learn how to be the best catholic husband you can be. Fucking goyums and there silly theories. Whats the next class, How to be owned (cue the owned video) by your wife 101? Hopefully she'll let you out to play next weekend.

107

Upon reading the title of this post you are probably thinking to yourself, "What could that number possibly mean?" Well it could represent a number of things. How much I won playing poker at the casino saturday night, no thats not it. My high score for the week in fantasy football, no thats not it. The amount of KM i put on my brand new Envoy Denali this weekend, no its not that, I put more like 400 on. Maybe it's my score from the final tour stop at Thundering Waters on saturday, ding ding ding ding. You got it. A whopping 107 for 18 holes, 48 - 59. You might be saying to yourself now, "WOW, Harris really sucks at golf." Well that may be partly true, probably about 80% true, the course was ridiculously difficult. The course layout is phenominal, absolutly a beautiful course to look at. To play it is another story. With water on 16 of 18 holes, and bunkers everywhere you look that resemble the grand canyon, this course proved far to difficult for me. I probably could have played much better if we played it earlier in the year before Football started, actually probably not. This course was so hard it was not even that muc fun to play. Other than having a great playing partner is Jason Bergen, I would have killed myself just to get off the course, and I assure you i will never return and pay to get on.

So i finished 58th on the tour out of like 64 guys. I beat Bergen overall, but that doesn't say much since he played 6 times this year. I was hoping to be much stronger on the tour. However my game was not nearly as good as last year, and I have to get use to playing at a snails pace since every round on the tour this year took 5+ hours. Next year there is a qualifier at Penn Lakes in Fonthill which will be over the course of 2 days. I have played that course a million times so hopefully I can get my game together quick enough after the winter to play well in that and get back on the tour. I had a great time playing on it, got to play some nice courses for a cheap price, and met a lot of good guys.

On the fantasy front, I got killed this week by my cousin in one pool, and by Matt in the other. I can't beat Matt at anything and it's really starting to bother me. Matt kicks my ass in golf, he beat me last year in fantasy, and he always beats me in poker. Oh wait no he doesn't, I forgot about the 2H,4H i busted him with just a few weeks ago. None the less he beats me at everything I want to beat him at. I guess when your as old as matt it gives youa little edge over the young people. I'll get him eventually.

Almost the perfect weekend

Last thursday and friday my baseball team won our first playoff games in 4 years as a team. We mercied both teams giving us probably to much confidence going into the semi's on sunday. When i showed up to the game i was confident we would put up a good fight for the win. However half the team showed up still drunk from the night before. It was an 11am game and i'm sure that s way to early for these guys. It was a struggle just getting huys to put half the effort in that normally is displayed and we ended up gettin embarresed lossing 25 to 7 in the 7th inning. I did my part though, with 3 RBI and a homerun.

Than friday, of course was Matt's stag. I arrived late due to the baseball game, but ended up having a really good time. Laughed a ton at Daisy summerville getting ripped by Bernie and Gary P. I was crying it was so funny. And than had a great time playing dice, which was a big hit. All in all, had a solid time.

saturday was my only day of golf for the weekend due to early baseball on sunday. I actually played pretty well putting up a 78. Can't complain about that. Hit some big drives, a few good iron shots. I Continued to work on my 3/4 shots as i have been since the club championships. I just wish i worked more on it early in the season. It's a big help to have that kind of control you get with those shots. The accuracy is a big difference to just hitting big full shots all the time. I would have probably been a little lower if it wasn't for a few clubbing issues. Basically 2 brain farts caused me a few shots. One i tried to hit a PW 168 on a the 14th, came up well short of the green and I pulled out my driver on 16, only to blast t through the fairway, chipped it out of the forest, and hit a 7 iron to the back of the green where i 3 putted from . My weight on my putts was really good, leaving my no huge par putts. One more tourny to play this next weekend, and that will probably be just about it for me this year.

Than there was the greatest day of the year. Opening weekend for the NFL. It felt a calm come over me getting to watch some reagular season ball. It was great, the bills even looked good for about 2 quarters. Fantasy wise, i took a few upsets this week which was very frustrating. You work so hard on research all summer and i drafted some great teams based on all the work i did. But the only team that did moderatly well for me this week was my bullshit rookie team. In hindsight i probably could have made some better decisions on who to start in cetain situations but all in all it was still great. I think i will win 2 of 6 games i played this week. That sucks. But i know my teams will get better. A few injuries hurt me this week, should be full strength next week.

Relief

I was actually nervous with anticipation all day yesterday for the greatest day of the year. We all know what yesterday was, OPENING DAY OF THE NFL SEASON. Oh the relief i felt getting my fix last night. Watching the Dolphins vs Steelers game last night was so relaxing and refreshing at the same time. I had a playoff softball game last night so i missed the first half, but it was still so good. By the way, last night was our first playoff win in 4 years of baseball. We even mercied the other team which was pretty cool since we were 1 player short of feilding a full team.

Cal and i even played 7 holes of golf before hitting a major back up on the 8th hole when we decided to walk in. So basically last night was a perfect night. Golf, Baseball, and Football. Life is good.

Another good read for you Cal

Last night I finished of my offseason for fantasy football with the last draft. This one was for the very first league I joined. It's with all of my friends from high school, and we have been at it for i think 5 years now. It's a 2 player keeper league, start 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, no flex players. I have not done very well in this pool so I took a whole new approach to it this year.

My keepers are Stephen Jackson and Larry Fitzgerald. I'm happy with that. My new approach was to go very heavy on the WR. I don't remember exactly cause I was plastard by the end of the draft, but I think I took my first running back in about the 8th or 9th round. That is crazy as far a FF goes. Anyways, the draft wasa complete mess. We changed sites over the summer and this seemed to cause massive confusion fora few people in the league. Basically they couldn't figure out how to draft. Yahoo, are previous site, has all the players listed in a box and tells you who you should pick next. The new site doesn't do this. You actually have to have some knowledge about who you are going to pick cause you have to find the player in a alphabetical list. I can't really explain how bad people were at this, but the draft started at 8:30 pm and we didn't finish untill 12:00am. The longest and worst draft of my life. Next year, we are going to do it all live at my house. Should be much better.

So here is my team. For the Tom Cruise Fans League

Daunte Culpepper
Aaron Brooks

Stephen Jackson
Wali Lundy
Tatum Bell
Jerious Norwood
(In every league I was way to into young backs, that could definitly cost me this year)

Plaxico Burress
Donald Driver
Larry Fitzgerald
Greg Jennings
Muhsin Muhammad
Ernest Wilford

Ben Watson
Leonard Pope

Lawrence Tynes

Jacksonville

So thats it, my last team, I'm not overly excited about it, but my WR corp on paper is great. So if i have to i should be able to make some trades for a RB when the time comes. But i still think my best team is in the Trash talking League, i can't wait for that one to start, and it's my biggest money league.

Played golf on the weekend too. Huge improvement. 84. I'm Gooooooood.

Happy Day

What a great weekend I got coming up. Tonight, I go to Detroit to see the one and only Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. I can't fucking wait. I have SECOND ROW seats for the show. It's a 35 ooo people stadium, and I have 2nd row from the stage. One person sitting in front of me, and than Ben. I'm so pumped. Than on saturday, I make the trek from Detroit to Toronto to see Ben again. I have seats in Row K, did centre, so that should be really good too. Should be a great weekend, with to much weed. My only shtick about these shows is the set list that has recently been played. A lot of the new stuff is being played which isn't my favourite stuff. Don't get me wrong, I still like his new stuff more than anything out now, but I saw some amazing concerts last year where he basically played all the classics and it was amazing. PLus i saw him last year in bar in Santa Monica, Cali. Some big open stadium in Detroit and Toronto won't even compare. It's still Harper, and it will still be great. I can't wait.

Than when I get home I look forward to dragging my ass around the golf course, hopefully posting another nice 88. I suck at golf.
