2 is back in play

Since I'm stuck at work today on Canada Day while the guys are enjoying a perfect morning of golf, I figured I'd get my post in earlier this week.

I was away all day yesterday and apparently missed some amazing golf by the best golfer on the planet Matty B. Not sure what happened other then he shot a 69 at a very tough course in the area, and could have possibly got a hole in one. Unfortunatly matts a huge loser and feels the need to write "parts" of a blog posts and we will have to wait a few days to find out. Well, people who read his blog will wait, i'll just find out later from Cal.

So back to me.

Got another 3 rounds in this weekend. I've been playing a lot. Played the first 18 with my cousin in atleast a year and were joined by our buddy Melly. Melly is another fantasy football fanatic and part of Jamie and I's big FF pool, so this round was a lot more about football, and golf on the side. Got off to a rocky start with a triple on the first, a bogey on the second, and a double on the third hole. Got it going after that a little and finished the round with an 81. From the blues this was pretty shit. But was almost half in the bag so not to bad all in all. Just an enjoyable round.

Saturday was another story. As I said in my previous post, I finally found the fix in my game. I had proclaimed this a few time earlier this year, but now I've actually done. I battled through the toughest most frustrating period of golf and have found the answer.

This was a weird morning for golf. Apparently I had slept through some ridiculous thunder storm about an hour before we teed off. Cal called me a questioned wether or not I was even coming, having no idea about the rain I told him I was running a little late but would be there for sure. Good thing we showed up, cause no one else did. We played saturday morning at 7:45 with not a single person in site. Ended up playing in 3 hours and 15 mins. What a freaking awesome morning. We played a friendly match for breakfast, which I'm sure Cal thought was in the bag for him. However, the fix worked. I took the guy to school while shooting a freaking 77. Finally, I'm playing again. The irons were smooth, I was driving the ball well, short game was phenominal, and I finally enjoy the game of golf again. Couldn't wait for sunday morning golf.

Saturday afternoon I had some friends I do business with in from out of town. starting around 4 in the afternoon things got crazy. Headed down to Port Dalhousie (summer patio bar area) for some coronas. Then met up for dinner, and back to port. Things went downhill from there. Won't go into to much detail, just this. The night resulted in about 1 hour of sleep before meeting Cal again for golf at 7:30. I show up barely able to stand and bracing myself for a shit round I begin dragging myself through the front 9.

Amazingly enough, I played great. My long game was o.k, but my short game was freakinhg amazing. I made so many up and down. I'm not sure I even hit one green in regulation. I just couldn't miss. I couldn't miss a putt within 10 feet. It was insane, I could hardly stay awake, but I made everything in site. If i wasn't chipping to a gimmie, I was draining the put no matter where it was from. It was increadible.

So i'm standing on the 7th tee, 2 over par, and I tell Cal I'm quitting after 9. Just couldn't take it anymore. But then I make a great par on 7. so on the 8th I say I'm going to double the next 2 so i have an excuse to quit. But I drive my ball deep into the wind to 200 yards out and go for the green in 2. In the bunker, made a crappy out, but made the 2 putt for par. Big drive on 9, came up way short, got way aggressive on the 75 footer for birdie, but rolled in the 10 footer for par. 2 over, I'm grabbing a cart and finishing this one. I keep the fire going. Par on 10, 11, 12, 13. Bogey on 14. Par on 15, 16, 17, made a 15 footer for par on 17th called it in the hole about a foot away. 18 I'm looking at 3 over and scared of going on the highway thanks to Cal telling me I would. I aim way down the left side of the hole and bomb a monster to 140 yards out. Little nervous now that I have a chance to put down my low for the year. I pushed my 8 iron a little a came up in the bunker, oh well, I've been making these up and downs all day. I kind of babied the bunker shot and left myself about 12 feet right to left for par. Hit the putt exactly were I thought it had to go, but didn't get much break and tapped in for my 4th bogey of the day to shoot 76. Still super happy about that.

I endured a lot of shit from my 2 friends for about a month now. Just go read they're last few blog posts and you'll get a sense of how bad it's been. I embarresed myself at the last Niagara Mens tour event. I've shot more rounds in the 90s this year then I have in the last 4 years. I actually almost gave up the game 2 weeks ago and some how managed to control myself from breaking every club in my bag. Now though, now, it's fucking on. I'm back mother fuckers (sorry for the language mom). I'm coming after you Cal, I'm coming after Matt (even though I think he may be a 1 now, which means I'm not going to touch him, lol), I'm getting to a 2. I'm going on vaca this week so won't be playing for a week, but I'll be on it the day I come back. I can't wait to light this game up.

Great to hear the game is back. I'll be the second happiest guy for you (behind yourself) if you reach your goal.

Toast, on the other hand, will ask you to go double or nothing over a hand of poker or something to get his money back.
