3 days of golf

So i got my first legit rounds in St. Catharines in the books as of today. Played both saturday and sunday with one of my favourite groups. Matt, Cal, Bernie, and Myself. Basically Cal, Matt and myself play every round together and we pick someone up each week. Usually Gary P on saturdays, but bernie joining the group is always solid. He usually makes the round a lot of fun for 2 reasons. One, he is a cocky, funny ass, SOB. Just makes jokes all day, and kicks all of our asses. It's become a personal goal of mine trying to win money off him. I bet him every week, no matter what, and I loose every week. But I love the challenge, and the day I beat him will be a great round. Second, he does help my game a lot. Although just about everyone tells me I'm to aggressive and need to work on hitting 3/4 shots (which is becoming a real pain in my ass because I keep trying to mussle full irons), Bernie is great for the little tips you need to step your game at.

Saturday, I played like garbage. I credit it mostly to the awful rainy conditions and the drastic change in ball flight and distance compared to Arizona. I posted 87 on the computer, but Cal was quick to point out to me first thing sunday morning I was actually a 90.

Sunday was a better day. Great weather and golf course conditions. I shot 43 on the front, and then settled down on the back and shot a solid 38. Still made lots of mistakes, but was feeling realy good for the Better Ball tourny today with Matt.

So after 2 rounds of probably scaring the shit out of Matt over my horrible play going into the Ontario Qualifier, it actually turned out to be a great day. Matt is way better at me then giving the details so I'll leave it to him. Check out Now On The Tee for his write up. I did play well. Massive improvement from the weekend. My best highlight was on the first hole. I pured a huge drive dead centre into gale force winds. I was 175 out and smoothed a 4 iron to about 2 feet and made the first birdie of the day. From there on I was solid all round. I hit 1 bad drive, the rest were perfect. I grinded like I was Matt's protege making my fair share of pars. Matt said he shot 78 after it was all said and done. I didn't keep my individual score since it was a team game, but I had to be either that or 1 stroke either way. We both played really well. I think next year we will be even better and hopefully qualify. Haven't seen the full results yet, but we probably missed the cut by 1 or 2 strokes. All in all, a great day.
