Best night of T.V.

I have to admit that I liking 24 more now. After 2 seasons of mediocrity it's starting to get my attention again. Jacks on his second torture victim in 6 hours, except this time is was his freakin brother. Jacks a tough mother fucker to be able to stick a plastic bag over your own brothers head. The show is making nice progress and I'm looking forward to what happens next.

Prison Break came through last night with a phenominal episode. This show gets better with each episode. The action keeps up trough out the whole show. Theres new twists every five minutes. The show is so smart. Everything is connected and done for a reason. I can't get enough of it. Anyone out there who hasn't watched this show, do yourself a favour and get the first season on dvd and start watching now.

2 shitty posts in a row, I'm on fire.

step it up a notch

On friday I spoke with my buddy Brian from montreal. I've been calling him almost every other day trying to convince him to come to Arizona with Preston and I. Finally on friday, he said he would come. Got his flight, time off, everything. Brian is one of the boys from Western, he used to live with preston, so are trip just turned into a ridiculous one. Only thing left to do is figure out how to convince the Boss to make the trip down there with us.

Friday night I went to see a movie with my cousin. We saw Smoking Aces. It was actually a decent movie. Theres this one guy that everyone wants to kill, and there is like 8 people who are trying to do it. Eventually they all arrive at the same place and you can guess what happens from there. I'm not very good at movie reviews, but this one was good, check it out.

Saturday night I went to my first leafs game this year. I have half of a set season tickets to the ACC but have had to give away a lot of games to customers. Montreal was in town and took a beating from the leafs, 4 - 1. My seats are 8 rows off the ice right behind the net. Great seats, maybe a little to low, but still a great spot to watch the game from. I've always liked the behindthe net seats better anyways.

This post sucked, i'm really tired, and lazy.

I had an expensive weekend

Altough I spent a fortune this weekend, it was all for the betterment of Harris. I started off on Friday finally confirming late winter golf trip. My buddy preston and I booked a trip sunny Arizona for 8 days, 6 rounds of golf, and hopefully a tonne of pussy. We rented a house in Scotsdale, located very close to ASU, atleast thats what the rental lady told me. So far the trip is coming together nicely. For this whole house for the 2 of us, it's costing us just 500 each for 7 nights. The flight cost of 275 CAN. The golf could turn out 1 of 2 ways. First scenario is we buy this card for 125 which lets us play for half price everywhere we go. In that case we are looking at spending roughly 300 US for 6 rounds of golf. However, things could work out a little better. If all goes well, we could play 3 or 4 rounds of golf for free at a couple of private courses. One being Silverleaf (http://www.silverleaf.com/golf/), it's supposed to be 180 000 to join this place. It looks amazing. So the trip is booked and now we just wait for the day to come. April 16th.

Then on saturday i took a trip the the Electronic Supermarket. I went in just looking for a home theatre system. Just wanted to know the pricing, specs, what's good/bad. After thinking about it for maybe a minute, I decided to buy a whole system. 12000 later and I'm at home trying to figure out how to run speaker cable to everything. I bought a really nice 5 speaker set, sub woofer, and reciever. It made the sound 10000 times better. I can't believe the difference. Not that is wasn't expected. Football was amazing yesterday. Every hit, sound effect, the crowd, it was like being at the game. Pretty freaking sweet.

Big night of 24 and Prison break tonight, in hi-def, and surrond sound. I can't freakin wait.

What was I thinking?

Last night I'm sitting comfortably on my couch with the Boss man, watching The Protecter (coolest action movie I have seen) when my buddy Tim messages me. "Harris, you want to go pick ice wine grapes?"

I think to myself, why the fuck would i want to subject myself to that? I can't stand the cold, especially -10 degrees in the middle of the night. Somehow, he convinces me that it would be a good experience to say you did it one time. So i get the boss already to go, put on 3 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, hat, glove, big coat, and I'm on my way to pick some grapes.

We get there and there is about 50 people going at it. Of course, we were the only dumbasses volunteering to do this. Everyone else there was getting paid almost 19 bucks and hour and they were all business. We actually pissed some people off cause we were to slow. The practically trampled us on there way through. This lasted for a good 25 minutes at which point we realized this wasn't really for us. So we stopped picking, had a beer and left.

Wasn't what i was expecting, but it wasn't all that bad either. Atleast I did it.

The Weekend Update

I had a semi eventful weekend for a change.

Friday night I joined Matt and Cal for a trip to wonderful Seneca Casino for a poker session. Turned out to be a 6 hour trip, culminating in me getting pretty drunk. I don't have the patience to be a poker player. First of all, I hate waiting to play a hand. This gets me into a lot of trouble because I play to many hands that have no chance of winning. I started off with 160 USD and after about an hour and half I was down to about 60 USD and matt was up about 100. So i began to slow down my play a little and speed up the drinking. Next thing I know its 2 hours later and I got a ncie buzz on. For some reason the drunker I got, the better I played, and the more shit i talked to the other players at the table. After 5 hours of play, I am pretty much wasted on free beer, i think the hottest waitress I have ever seen has a thing for me (even though i havn't said a word to her all night other than "Can i get another beer please"), and I'm back to even while Matt has about 40 USD left after being up aronud 300. All in all, it was a good night. Got home, visited with the Boss for a bit, watched another episode of Weeds and passed out around 4 in the morning.

Saturday was a glorious day of football. Preston and a couple other buddies came down to watch on the new plasma, and play some tiger woods golf on XBOX 360.

And then there was Sunday. The best sunday all year. 2 amazing football games in the afternoon. Once they finished at 8, the best show ever was on t.v. The 6th season of 24 has begun and I couldn't be happier. I have been watching this show ever since the very first episode 6 years ago without missing it once. I grew obsessed with this show very quickly. Although it has never been as good as the first season, i continue to watch and enjoy. This season is another case of Jack Bauer (the closest thing to superman) battling yet again some muslim terroists. I don't know what it is about this show, but they seem to try really hard to hammer home the point that every muslim must be a terrorist. It's easy to look by it, but it is getting a little old. But the plot will change after a couple episodes, so hopefully there is something new on the horizon. There was 2 hours last night, and another 2 tonight. I'm really looking forward to it.

Big month coming up. I have become obsessed with more t.v. shows over the holidays. i watched a lot of DVD's with nothing to do while off work. Prison Break starts next week, and Lost starts 1 or 2 weeks after that. Only thing that sucks is football is 3 weeks away from the offseason. I hate the offseason.

Well I did it

I finally did something stupid so that I would have something to tell everyone about. I played poker. I suck at poker. I have no skill, i don't understand the game that well, I have no idea what the odds are of me getting a hand, i don't know how to bet, nothing. PLaying with the usual suspects last night, I donated $60 in about 1 and half hours, and said good night. It was all my fault. I think it was 3 times, I decided to call Jason and Cal's bluffs with absolutly nothing in my hand, only to find out they weren't trying to bluff at all. Actually, they were both pretty confident that if they pushed I would follow, and I did. I suck a poker. This isn't like golf where I say I suck, but actually I'm pretty good compared to the average player. In poker, I'm pretty much worse than the below average players. That might even be taking to much credit. I have a great time playing. I make fun of Gary, jab at Bergen, raz Matt, but i just loose money, every time.

Over the weekend, i got a taste of Fantasy Football. I'm back on the horse for 3 more weeks. # other guys I know from Toronto started a fantasy playoff league. we did it last year, but improved some of the rules and roster limits this year. What happens is there is a draft just like the normal season, except you only pick players from playoff teams. You start the full lineup at the start and there is no changes, as teams get eliminated so do your players. We drafted 24 guys each. 3QB, 5RB, 7WR, 3K, 3TE, 3D. This style of Fantasy is much more difficult. You have to try to draft players based on how you think the playoffs will turn out. This is a challenge for me cause I am horrible at picking the winners or spread, and especially in the playoffs where anything can happen (see Pittsburgh Steelers of 2006). I don't have my lineup handy, but I'm in third place (out of 4) after the first weekend, and I only have 13 players left, the lowest amount by far. So i'm pretty much out of this thing. I love playoff football. I don't need the fantasy to make it better. Reagular season FF ruins football for me, this just gives me a side project for a couple weeks. So enjoy the post season. This weekend, nothing is going to happen. I'm going to the leafs/sabres game this thursday with Preston, should have something to say about that on friday.

Not much going on

The 2 things i ever have to talk about on this blog are no where to be found these days. Golf and Fantasy Football are over and I'm questioning my existence for the next few months. Ya, theres basketball, and hockey, and NCAA, but none of those bring me as much satisfaction. Well atleast the sabres are playing well enough that they are worth watching, but the season is just so freaking long. Thats my biggest complaint about all these other leagues. Baseball is like 160 games, Hockey 82, Basketball 82. How can you follow a whole season of this when there are so many games that don't mean anything? Really the last month of each of those leagues are the only good part. Playoffs are good in every sport, but the huge long regular seasons are brutal. 16 games in the NFL, everyone counts, and everyone has value to the whole season. One game a week, one day, it's so much easier to commit to that rather than every night of the week. I'm fishing for something to talk about here, so forgive me for the horrible post. I'll try to do something stupid this weekend so I have good story on monday.
